What does Jesus Think?

What does Jesus think?
by David Brenneman

"And He wondered at their unbelief. And He was going around the villages teaching." Mark 6:6.

"After looking around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored."
Mark 3:5.

"And Jesus seeing their faith said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” Mark 2:5.

Have you ever considered what Jesus sees in your heart?  Ever thought of His thoughts on the things you choose to keep in your life that the Spirit has time and again showed you that needs to go?  Have you considered your ways as the Scriptures say that you ought to be doing?  We read in the Bible that He is the God who sees.

We read: "You have not yet resisted to the point of shedding blood in your striving against sin; and you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons, “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, Nor faint when you are reproved by Him; For those whom the Lord loves He disciplines, And He scourges every son whom He receives.”  It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline?  But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.  Furthermore, we had earthly fathers to discipline us, and we respected them; shall we not much rather be subject to the Father of spirits, and live?  For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, so that we may share His holiness.  All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness.  Therefore, strengthen the hands that are weak and the knees that are feeble,  and make straight paths for your feet, so that the limb which is lame may not be put out of joint, but rather be healed." Hebrews 12:4-13.

Jesus took His Father's will seriously.  He told all of us that we ought to be taking up our own cross and following Him.

Thinking about these things...how do you think He looks upon your life?  How much effort are you putting into living a God-honoring life?

Truthfully Christians can quite often be Satan's best advocates for disobedience to God's Word.

Christians can come up with the best excuses for berating and belittling others just be reclassification of the act as "all in fun!".  Biblically there's no acceptable reason to berate or belittle anyone.

There are even Christians who bully others for similar reasons.

Looking at your life would you find Jesus wondering about you?  Would you find Him just standing there waiting for what you were doing, saying or thinking to reveal itself for what it really was?

"But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the day of judgment.  For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” Matthew 12:36-37.

There you have it straight from Jesus.

Do the choices you make or have made placed something or someone higher in your life than your relationship with Jesus?

Just because you enjoy something or get a thrill from something doesn't mean it ought to be in your life.  Especially if it entices you to take what belongs to God and to give it to someone or something else.

Are you wasting your time, energy and efforts on things that will turn to ashes when tried by the fires of God's truth?

The Disciples were taught to give their whole life to the calling of Jesus Christ in them.

Jesus asked the question, what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will he give in exchange for his soul?

What is it going to gain you in Christ Jesus to run after this or that in your life that isn't going to benefit your life in Christ?

Honestly I know with little doubt that there's been many times that I probably caused Jesus to lower His head, rub that spot between his eyes at the bridge of His nose an shake His head because of my life choices.

He searches the hearts.

He searched your heart.

He knows everything.  Including all the ways you allowed yourself to be deceived and drawn away to things or people whom took you away from going through life with Jesus with your whole heart.

Take some time today to really look at your choices.

Hope exists because we still breathe.

Jesus is ready to run to each of us if we but turn to Him with a whole heart.

We often put what others think about us above what Jesus said for us to be doing to obey Him.

Are you going to be brought to tears, falling to your knees, before Jesus when your life's work goes up in flames and there's virtually nothing left to give back to Jesus for all He's done for you?

When we choose the world we stand against God.

"Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect."
Romans 12:1-2

There's also that saying "I would rather stand with God and be judged by the world than stand with the world and be judged by God".

Excusing our behavior in order to fit in with the world is a scheme of Satan.

On this day...stop and take stock of how much you look to live a life approved by Jesus.
