He's in the Room
by David Brenneman
"Now having been questioned by the Pharisees as to when the kingdom of God was coming, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed; nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or, ‘There it is!’ For behold, the kingdom of God is in your midst.” Luke 17:20-21.
A favorite song for me is "His Name is Jesus" by Phil Wickham.
"The King is in the room
Come see the scars of love upon his hands
The King is in the room
We'll watch the darkness flee at his command
Who is this King?
Who is this King?
His name is Jesus
His name is Jesus
Light of the world
There's freedom in his name
Awesome in power
Reigning forever
Light of the world
There's freedom in his name
The Healer's in the room
Let miracles break out across this place, oh
The Savior's in the room
No soul beyond the boundaries of his grace
There's resurrection power in his name
His name is Jesus
His name is Jesus
Light of the world
There's freedom in his name
Awesome in power
Reigning forever
Light of the world
There's freedom in his name
There's freedom in his name
Oh, there's freedom in his name
There's never been a love so great
He died so we could live
Then He rose up from that grave
Name another King like this
Now all authority
Forever belongs to him
He reigns in victory
Name another King like this
There's never been a love so great
He died so we could live
Then he rose up from that grave
Name another King like this
Now all authority
Forever belongs to him
He reigns in victory
Name another King like this
Yeah!
Name another King like this
Who is this King?
His name is Jesus
His name is Jesus
Light of the world
There's freedom in his name
Awesome in power
Reigning forever
Light of the world
There's freedom in his name
His name is Jesus
His name is Jesus
Light of the world
There's freedom in his name
Awesome in power
Reigning forever
Light of the world
There's freedom in his name
There's never been a love so great
He died so we could live
Then He rose up from that grave
Name another King like this
Now all authority
Forever belongs to him
He reigns in victory
Name another King
There's never been a King like this
There's never been a King like this, oh
His name is Jesus"
They missed it when asking the question...but did you get it?
In the movie "Airforce One", near the end, the President is the last to be rescued and as soon as he is safe aboard Liberty 24, the pilot notifies all "Liberty 24 is changing call signs. Liberty 24 is now Airforce One!". Whatever plane the President is on, IS Airforce One. His presence is what dictates the name of the craft. It goes with his title.
Jesus was the now and coming King. He even tells Pilate that indeed He is King. Wherever Jesus is IS the Kingdom.
In your life, if indeed you are saved, the King is in the room. Doesn't matter where you are. What you are doing, the King is there with you. Jesus said that He would never leave us or forsake us. He is wherever we are.
Sheds a different light on what activities you participate in doesn't it?
Does it make you think twice on what you choose to participate in? It should.
"Your word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against you." It's why we are to be in God's word daily.
How often are we forgetful of the omniscience of our Savior? How often are we forgetful of the 24/7 sifting of our hearts?
My Dear Reader...in that day we give an account of our lives before Jesus...He will already know everything. He will know why we did everything we did. Will know every thought and intention behind every single decision you and I have made. Including all those where we deceived ourselves into thinking or doing things that we shouldn't have thought or done.
The King is in the room all the time.
The Kingdom has come, just as He said.
We have a holy purpose in this life. Our sanctification is part of that purpose. Our growing in Christ is our portion. Then there's the global impact of our walking in God's truth. We were bought with a price, the shed blood of Jesus Christ, therefore what? Glorify God in your body. It should give us pause to consider our choices if it's not going to glorify your Father in Heaven.
I will be the first to say that's not always been on my mind...but it should be among the first thoughts that I should have.
You're not saved to be able to run off and do your own thing. Jesus has a purpose for your life. The Spirit sets you in the body of Christ as He sees fit. You have something to do that absolutely will glorify your Father in Heaven. Question is: are you doing it or are you avoiding it?
Have you claimed the worldly excuse "I'm retired"?
Have you embraced "I just can't physically do that"?
Are you coming up with excuses to not obey? The only retirement plan of God is after we breathe our last. He is the Healer. Moses tried using an excuse of not being an eloquent speaker. Jesus's response had to do with uh who made your mouth?
In whatever we do we're to do it as unto the Lord. Colossians 3:23-24.
Likewise, regardless of how it feels, we aren't to participate in what the Bible says are the deeds of darkness. We aren't to even jokingly tear someone down. Taking potshots at someone's dignity is sin.
Do you not realize you represent Jesus to this fallen world?
Consider your ways the Bible says many times. Consider your ways. Consider your heart daily. Take every thought captive...to the glory of God.
The King is in the room. In us and all around us. Who is this King, His name is Jesus. Just thinking of this gives me goosebumps.
How does your day look now?
