A Life Hidden with Christ in God

A Life Hidden with Christ in God
by David Brenneman

‘Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ Isaiah 41:10.

"When I am afraid, I will put my trust in You. In God, whose word I praise, in God I have put my trust; I shall not be afraid. What can mere man do to me?" Psalms 56:3-4

"The psalmist does not say, "If something ever scares me," he says, "When I am afraid." Fear is a natural human reaction to danger. God does not tell us to ignore our fears but to bring them to Him." - Dr. Charles Stanley, comment on Psalms 56:3, Life Principles Daily Bible.

"For even when we came into Macedonia our flesh had no rest, but we were afflicted on every side: conflicts without, fears within. But God, who comforts the depressed, comforted us by the coming of Titus;" 2 Corinthians 7:5-6.

Probably a strange way to begin a post, but my thoughts surround battles ahead of me. I didn't choose those verses, however, God did since those were what came in my evening Bible reading last night.

There are some battles in the workplace that are ahead of me.

My thoughts try to get ahead of me in these, but I remember what Jesus said about tomorrow. "So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34.

My battles are also not my own. If indeed Christ is in you, your battles are not yours alone as well.

Jesus also said it is His peace that He leaves with us. Not as the world gives us.

Was interesting that for many months now Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight." Has been a constant for me. Last night Proverbs 29:27 ESV "An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous, but one whose way is straight is an abomination to the wicked."

The people with whom these battles involve are co-workers. Neither of which is saved. Both of which really do not understand the things of God because they are spiritually discerned.

My God is always before me, behind me, and with me.

My prayers upon waking were to take my waking thoughts of today and keep them...since it was worry trying to creep in.

Satan's opposed to the straight path that the Lord Jesus Christ says He will do in the life of a Believer. When it is indeed the Lord doing the straightening, who is powerful enough to make it crooked again?

Set your mind on the things that are above and not on the things that are of this world is what we read.

Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.

"For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory." Colossians 3:3-4.

Ever catch that? When Christ, who is our life...

Mere man, who doesn't belong to Christ Jesus, attempts to come after me, they have to come through Jesus Christ first.

My fears of what might be may still be present, but I don't need to give way to them running rampant in my mind.

"For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith." 1 John 5:4.

Faith history is important when facing new battles. Remembering how our Savior and Lord delivered us then prepares a heart for the here and now battles.

Jesus does often allow things through to us to grow us in our walk with Him. Please don't forget to leave room in your thoughts for that.

I do not know what today is going to hold let alone this week. But I know in whose hands are my very life and breath.

I do have a job to do. There's likely going to be persecutions to deal with. Jesus said that those who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus are going to be persecuted. It matters not if the company is a Christian based one or not. unbelievers are part of that mix.

I also know that there's nothing that any can throw at me that will ever reach me without the approval of my Savior.

When you go out into your day...my Dear Reader...be sure to take Jesus with you. Don't leave Him at home beside your bed. Don't leave Him in your reading room. Don't leave Him on your bookshelf where you deposited your Bible. Don't leave Him in your vehicle after you get to where you are going. Don't leave Him anywhere. Stay at His side. The whole armor of God works best when He leads going forward in the time of a battle.
