Do You Really?

Do You Really?
by David Brenneman

I love you Lord and I lift my voice...
to worship you, oh my soul rejoice.
Take joy my King, in what you hear...
may it be a sweet, sweet sound in your ear.

Regardless of where you allow your mind to go...do you ever rein it in and just try to shut off all the world demands of you in order to just let Jesus know how much you love Him?

I woke up to that chorus playing in my mind.  We used to sing it a lot in the church that I grew up in.

This song is one of my favorites.  Sometimes it leads into more...which is simply awesome.

Come, now is the time to worship
Come, now is the time to give your heart
Come, just as you are to worship
Come, just as you are before your God
Come

One day ev'ry tongue will confess You are God
One day ev'ry knee will bow
Still the greatest treasure remains for those Who gladly choose you now

Come, now is the time to worship
Come, now is the time to give your heart
Come, just as you are to worship
Come, just as you are before your God
Come

One day ev'ry tongue will confess You are God
One day ev'ry knee will bow
Still the greatest treasure remains for those, Who gladly choose you now

Willingly we choose to surrender our lives
Willingly our knees will bow
With all our hearts, oh, mind and strength
We gladly choose you now

Come, now is the time to worship
Come, now is the time to give your heart
Come, just as you are to worship
Oh, come, just as you are before your God
Come
Come
Come, oh
Come, oh
Come
Come, oh you nations
Come, come and worship
Oh, come (come and worship your maker!)

When the Spirit breaks out a playlist in your heart and mind, do you shut it down, shut it off, or do you embrace it?

King David brought many, many songs to the world.  King David, before becoming King, used to play for King Saul.  The songs of praise would drive away any demons that were messing with King Saul.

Demons cannot delve out their evil intentions when the Lord is being praised.

My Dear Reader, everything in your life is to be secondary to your relationship with your Savior, Jesus Christ.  The Bible says that He is to have first place in your heart, mind, soul and spirit.  So, it begs the question: Does He?  Do you shut down the Spirit prompting you towards worship or do you embrace it?

In writing my book I am prompted to remember the various stages of my faith. Seeing how, not just the times of intense spiritual battles, but the times of praise that God used to push my roots deeper.

You are not living in this time of human history to get the most for yourself out of whatever is available in anything.  Go backwards a few steps my Dear Friend to when you came to Christ.  Jesus said that one must come as a child.  Children do not care about what adults do. The children who came to Jesus simply loved being with Jesus.  They loved Him without reservation or with any skepticism. No preconceived notions. No doubts, certainly no fears.

The Spirit protects the Word of God.
The Spirit teaches us more about Jesus.

More about Jesus would I know,
More of His grace to others show;
More of His saving fullness see,
More of His love who died for me.

More, more about Jesus,
More, more about Jesus;
More of His saving fullness see,
More of His love who died for me.

More about Jesus let me learn,
More of His holy will discern;
Spirit of God, my teacher be,
Showing the things of Christ to me.

More, more about Jesus,
More, more about Jesus;
More of His saving fullness see,
More of His love who died for me.

More about Jesus in His Word,
Holding communion with my Lord;
Hearing His voice in ev'ry line,
Making each faithful saying mine.

More, more about Jesus,
More, more about Jesus;
More of His saving fullness see,
More of His love who died for me.

More about Jesus on His throne,
Riches in glory all His own;
More of His kingdom's sure increase;
More of His coming, Prince of peace.

More, more about Jesus,
More, more about Jesus;
More of His saving fullness see,
More of His love who died for me.

Take back your childhood in Christ.
Lay your worries, your concerns, at His feet.

‭‭John‬ ‭4:23‭-‬24‬ ‭"But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Probably our greatest problem in our lives is our negligence in worship...it's absolutely not just for Sunday Mornings, Sunday nights or Wednesday nights.

We read "that, in reference to your former way of life, you are to rid yourselves of the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, and that you are to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth." Ephesians 4:22-24.

So, spiritually, did you get dressed for today?  Are you intentional in your life towards your life in Christ?  Or is what you do with regards to Jesus in a daytimer?  Something that you schedule in?  Something you put aside when you are out in the world?

“But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. And all the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, just as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; and He will put the sheep on His right, but the goats on the left.  Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? And when did we see You as a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You?  And when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it for one of the least of these brothers or sisters of Mine, you did it for Me.’ Then He will also say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, you accursed people, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry, and you gave Me nothing to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me nothing to drink; I was a stranger, and you did not invite Me in; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit Me.’ Then they themselves also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or as a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not take care of You?’ Then He will answer them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it for one of the least of these, you did not do it for Me, either.’ These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” Matthew 25:31-46.

So...how do you show that the love of Christ is in you?  How are you going to change how you worship Him today?
