It's been a few days since that understanding concerning the Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God. It's amazing!
"All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17.
"but just as it is written, “Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, And which have not entered the heart of man, All that God has prepared for those who love Him.” For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God."
1 Corinthians 2:9-10.
It's also the only weapon in the hands of Believers. Not it AND this or that.
How many times do we go about trying to find something to work WITH the Word of God?
Clinging to even the teacher's of it more than it maybe? We indeed are to seek out men of God to learn from, but even they must not be elevated to some unhealthy level above the power and purpose of the Word of God.
What value do you put on the Word of God? More often than not, a soldier in active duty, is found checking his or her weapon. Disassembling and assembling it to check for wear and proper operation.
Their life and the lives of others might depend on it working when it should. They would sleep with it close to them. It was to never leave their side.
The Word of God is to be closer.
The Sword of the Spirit is to be as near as your own heart. "Your word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against You." Psalms 119:11.
Whether or not you like it, the truth from God is that you are in a war. There are no conscientious objectors in this Spiritual War. There are none who are to sit on the sidelines. No bench warmers. None doing their own thing.
This verse, directly from Jesus, is for everyone: "These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33. There are no exceptions.
The Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God, is HIS weapon of choice. It's all encompassing. Nobody in any military capacity in training is handed a rifle or pistol and are told to go figure it out. Study is required. Hands on is required. Detailed knowledge is required. Not just on how it works but why each part does its part to work.
The body of Christ is the same. Paul wrote of the parts of the body, in the Word of God, and what each part should do and be expected to do. In 2,000 plus years many people have tried creating parts of the body of Christ that never are found in the Word of God.
How well do you know the Word of God? How often are you in it, studying it?
How often is it even important to you?
There's the kicker.
How will you answer Jesus when He asks you questions He already knows the answers to? How important was my Word to you in your walk with Me? Did you try to hide My Word in your heart that you might not sin against Me?
The thing is Satan's going to try to keep you from finding the Word of God interesting. He's going to interfere witb you learning it. He will twist its meaning to get you complacent about it.
He
needs
you
to
put
it
down.
Find the time, make the time, make the most of every single opportunity. While modern day things like podcasts and streaming are nice, it is NOT a replacement for the Word of God.
You cannot wave a single podcast or streaming video at sin and have it impact to the core of a person's heart.
"Therefore let us be diligent to enter that rest, so that no one will fall, through following the same example of disobedience. For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do." Hebrews 4:11-13.
While there's no end to additional resources, the Word of God, the Sword of the Spirit, is the only difference maker in the hearts of mankind. All humanity throughout all human history will be impacted by it.
"For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished." Matthew 5:18.
So, my Dear Reader, how important is the Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God, to you now?
