Oh We Need to Stop Stirring
by David Brenneman
Peace be still...
I don't want to be afraid
Every time I face the waves
I don't want to be afraid
I don't want to be afraid
I don't want to fear the storm
Just because I hear it roar
I don't want to fear the storm
I don't want to fear the storm
Peace be still
Say the word and I will
Set my feet upon the sea
Till I'm dancing in the deep
Peace be still
You are here so it is well
Even when my eyes can't see
I will trust the voice that speaks
I'm not gonna be afraid
'Cause these waves are only waves
I'm not gonna be afraid
I'm not gonna be afraid
I'm not gonna fear the storm
You are greater than it's roar
I'm not gonna fear the storm
I'm not gonna fear at all
Peace be still
Say the word and I will
Set my feet upon the sea
Till I'm dancing in the deep
Peace be still
You are here so it is well
Even when my eyes can't see
I will trust the voice that speaks
Peace peace over me
Let faith rise up
Oh heart believe
Let faith rise up in me
Let faith rise up
Oh heart believe
Let faith rise up in me
Let faith rise up
Oh heart believe
Let faith rise up in me
Let faith rise up
Oh heart believe
Let faith rise up in me

So many people stirr up trouble where there need not be any. They dig in their heels like a stubborn mule and refuse to budge...and this is in all reality towards God no less!
They get so close to what it is they believe they are wanting and reach out and grab it before God says yes or no.
Then attack those who tell them otherwise. We have cats...and have seen them do this very thing. Growling and fighting for what they want regardless of if it makes sense.
To let go and let God needs to be the theme of our lives. To trust in His timing and not our own will alleviate so much in hurt relationships.
We are to obey Christ in all things...not AFTER we get what we want. If we truly trusted God with the outcome we wouldn't be so aggressive about things like dreams, wants or desires.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart. It more than implies what it says.
Lean not on your own understanding. Get past what your eager desires are driving you towards.
Your relationships are to be worth more than your things. Your relationships are to mean more to you than your wants. Jesus put relationships above what people saw or thought. His relationship with His Father ranked highest. His Disciples were next. The people came after that.
In our personal lives our relationships should mean more to us than we even consider at times. We allow the pot to be stirred because of wants and desires. The Prodigal Son had to lose everything down to almost the clothes off his back before he realized the truth.
Do we really want God to have to take everything away to get us to see His truth for our lives? He WILL do it. When I put things above what God wants, it inevitably leads into lessons from God on why I shouldn't do that.
Don't let dreams, desires, wants, blind you to the point that you become a shadow of who you were in Christ. Don't stir up situations that didn't need to happen because of true selfishness.
The heart and mind are to be guarded.
If you have gone down this road...go back. Ask forgiveness and seek to restore what God enabled to be in your life. Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness. Seek the path that God intended for you to be on, not the one you refuse to let go of.
Oh the temptation to reach out and grab what isn't ours to have or to have yet.
I have seen it bring relationships to their knees. Have seen it destroy marriages. Have seen people part ways. Lives destroyed because people wouldn't let go and trust God. Wouldn't wait for His provision or His timing. The Old Testament is replete with examples of this and more.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart...not the leftovers. Not after you get what you want. It may make sense, it may not. Doesn't matter in light of growing in Christ Jesus. Believers should be the light of Jesus Christ in this world, not snuffed candles. Not people living selfishness after finding salvation. Not allowing the devil to get a foothold in their relationships or their lives.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart.
