I always love it waking up to a hymn or a song in my mind...today was one of those days.
"Where He Leads Me" by E.W. Blandly.
"I can hear my Savior calling,
I can hear my Savior calling,
I can hear my Savior calling,
"Take thy cross and follow, follow Me."
Where He leads me I will follow,
Where He leads me I will follow,
Where He leads me I will follow,
I'll go with Him, with Him all the way."
Follows well with Trust in the Lord with all your heart And lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.
Another is "Step by Step" by Rich Mullins
"Oh God, You are my God
And I will ever praise youOh God, You are my GodAnd I will ever praise youI will seek You in the morningAnd I will learn to walk in Your waysAnd step by step You'll lead meAnd I will follow You all of my days
Oh God, You are my GodAnd I will ever praise YouOh God, You are my GodAnd I will ever praise YouI will seek You in the morningAnd I will learn to walk in Your waysAnd step by step You'll lead me
And step by step You'll lead meAnd I will follow You all of my days"
The winds of change are blowing in my life once again. My God is directing my steps. As I go through all of this I am not fearful as I once used to be. As much as it would be the human thing to do in taking credit for that change in me, it's been all because of Jesus. He's the one who's making a masterpiece of my life.
Jim Reeves had a song out called "Why Do I Love You". Sit for a moment and consider the words. Sit for a moment longer and ask yourself if these are for you, between you and Jesus.
"Why do I love you I love you not only for what you are, But for what I am when I'm with you.
I love you not only for what you've made of yourself, But for what you're making of meI love you for ignoring the possibilities of the fool in me, And for laying firm hold of the possibilities for good in meWhy do I love you I love you for closing your eyes to the dischords, And for adding to the music in me by worshipful listeningI love you because you're helping to make of the lumber of my life Not a tavern but a templeAnd out of the words of my everyday not a reproach but a songI love you because you have done more than any creed to make me happyYou have done it without a word without a touch without a signYou have done it just by being yourself and after all perhaps that's what love means"When you get out of bed each day are you going where Jesus leads or are you going where your heart fancies to go?
Are you following the Great Shepherd or are you running ahead of Him?
Are you wanting what He wants, doing what He does, following in His footsteps?
Literally a Disciple followed in the footsteps of their Master. Step by Step.
Would your life, if seen on a movie screen, show Jesus as having the leading part or would people see you promoting you? Would they see nothing to point people to Jesus?
No product, no way of thinking, no service offered, no diet, no exercise, no philosophy, no psychology, in this world is more important than a right relationship with Jesus that includes a light shining in such a way that people see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven.
If you aren't pointing people to Jesus, what are you doing?
All deeds done in the body that were not done for Jesus will be burned up and be worthless. What will be left from your life?
Those who go where He leads, those who do as He says, they will be pointing people to Jesus.
When you survey your things around you.
When you look in the mirror.
When you hear people speak about you.
When all is said and done...will they know that you've been with God?
Jim Reeves also sang "This world is not my home. I'm just a-passing through
My treasures are laid up Somewhere beyond the blue.
The angels beckon me From heaven's open door. And I can't feel at home In this world anymore.
Oh Lord, you know I have no friend like youIf heaven's not my home Then Lord, what will I do?
The angels beckon me From heaven's open door And I can't feel at homeIn this world anymore."
Look at your life...are you running from the path that Jesus is walking or are you following in His footsteps?
A saying about a true Disciple: "May you be covered in the dust of your Master"...are you following Jesus so closely that His is covering you?
Where He Leads Me I will follow...
