The Love of God Without Question
by David Brenneman
Throughout my life I have indeed lost connections with people over many things but perhaps the most have been when taking a stand on God's word.
What's perhaps the greatest difficulty in my younger years was the emotional side of it all.
How to deal with, let alone define, what I was feeling at the time.
The most interesting thing is that when it was indeed others who are Believers, they obviously have forgotten that we will indeed spend eternity together so Scripturally they need to get over it now before we get there.
We aren't necessarily going to always have the right perspective in our own point of view, which is why God's Word must be the lens from which we examine everything.
God's Word says that we battle not against flesh and blood. That the war is in the Spiritual realm. Note very well that there's no distinction between a person's personal life and the rest of the world in this matter. There's but 1 battlefield.
We must always seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto us.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart And in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.
Was reading still in Matthew and Jesus was describing the characteristics and character of His sheep in comparison to those who were not. The character and characteristics of His sheep follow "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul and spirit. Love your neighbor as yourself".
When you stop to characterize your life are you following in Christ's footsteps or your own? Are you putting you before Him in regards to living life? Paul wrote that people wou be lovers of self, does that describe you? To a certain degree we are to take care of ourselves but we aren't to focus on ourselves. Jesus said to deny ourselves, take up our own cross and follow Him.
We cannot and should not be holding grudges against fellow Believers. This is not of God its roots are in selfishness and pride.
We can't go about life putting self first when we see clearly a different path put before us that's of God for us to do.
Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness. What does that look like in your life? Is there evidence enough to convict you of doing that if that were to happen to you?
We who are in Christ had better learn to get along now because eternity is a very very long time.
I have learned to move on and place those with issues concerning me into God's hands to deal with. He knows the hearts of all and can go wherever I cannot.
Praying for those is the best use of my time. Restorations may happen, they may not. I am still charged with obeying and moving forward with my walk with Jesus.
Yes I know Matthew 18 well. There's also the passage that says whereas it be possible be at peace with all people. Which certainly implies that there's some whom it just won't be possible.
So I pray for those whom might cross my mind and know that quite often it's the Spirit bringing them to my mind so that I would pray for them.
Without question we shouldn't hold onto things or situations which break our fellowship with one another. In the end its God's will that will prevail.
We who are in Christ are His workmanship. We can either comply with what He's doing in our lives willingly or unwillingly but know this: His will WILL be done on Earth as it is in Heaven for every single person in Christ Jesus as well as what He's doing in the world with others.
Pray on, Pray over, Pray through...
As Jesus said: love others as I have loved you.
