"Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many rooms; if that were not so, I would have told you, because I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I am coming again and will take you to Myself, so that where I am, there you also will be. And you know the way where I am going.” Thomas *said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going; how do we know the way?” Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me." John 14:1-6 NASB
It is, and I pray it stays that way, a constant amazement to me when I sit to write after reading my Bible of what I am lead to write. Trust me, this isn't false humility, I am not this good on my own. I give all the glory and honor to God for what He does and has done.
What He's done...as the song says all glory to the Father and the Son for what He's done.
In the verses that follow this passage Jesus is telling His Disciples His parting words before being betrayed, abused, and crucified. He is about to say the words we know : I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father but through Him.
This means the world's definitions of what makes up a Christian Believer aren't what matters, what counts, but rather what Jesus has said throughout the Bible matters.
The Way is Jesus. The last of the preparations before His return are about done. Realistically speaking His return can be at any given moment.
We know not the day nor the hour, essentially speaking we don't know the exact moment, but we WERE told of the time frame in which to look. We were told of what kinds of things to be looking for that would proceed His return.
Are you looking in anticipation or in fear at His return? Are you or have you lived a life of self or of a life that's shown a life transformed?
Some are not excited about His imminent return because of knowing they haven't been living life as they should have.
Read on in John 14 and you see this: "The one who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and the one who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will reveal Myself to him." Verse 21 NASB.
Verse 15 NASB: "If you love Me, you will keep My commandments".
Look at your life. Look at what you have surrounded yourself with in possessions. Does it reflect a life that's anticipating the return of Jesus Christ? Look at how you dress. Look at your self-image. Look at the image you portray online. Look at the image you portray of yourself at work.
This isn't me judging it's God having you look at you before you explain your life before Jesus when you will give an account of it.
Are you so absorbed in finding your own joy, your own peace, your own happiness, that you have essentially told Jesus to sit in the foyer of your life until there's some need that you would call upon Him for, like He’s some glorified Butler?
The Way is only through Jesus Christ. The Way is His way or its no way. We will only show fruits of righteousness through obedience to His Word. We will only have something to give back to Him some day in Heaven by obeying now.
Honestly, would you rather stand before Jesus, after your life's been looked at, with nothing to show that mattered to Jesus? With nothing to give Him back for all He’s done for you?
Jesus said He wants doers of the Word, not hearers only. James 1:22-24 NASB "But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not just hearers who deceive themselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was."
Add this: "So for one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, for him it is sin." James 4:17 NASB.
If this brings guilt that brings conviction that leads to repentance, then it's a very good thing. If this doesn't then go back several posts to read about hardened hearts. Because this isn't implying a hard heart it's you being told that you have one that is. If there is no ambition in your life to live it as God's shown you and needs you to live it...better check your heart. If the things of this world matter more than the things of God, better check your heart.
Jesus said "For whoever wants to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it." Matthew 16:25 NASB.
This is a moment you need to take stock of your life. What's important to you is what you surround yourself with. Be it people or possessions. Where your mind goes as well. If you keep filling it up with useless things that's what you will have...a useless life. If you fill it with the things of God then you indeed will have found the Life.
The Way is Coming...are you REALLY ready to meet Jesus in how you look today?
