Your word is truth. JOHN 17:17
Do you find the Bible confusing? It’s one book with two great sections—the Old and New Testaments. These are divided into sixty-six books, 1,189 chapters, and 31,102 verses, written by forty-plus authors. Even the newest parts of the Bible are nearly two millennia old. So is the Bible outdated? Incomprehensible? Untrustworthy? Irrelevant? Not at all. The Bible is timeless. It reveals the mind of an eternal God who is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He was, is, and is to come. He is “I Am,” the self-existent One who knows tomorrow’s headlines before they’re printed. The Bible is timely, giving us daily encouragement and guidance. Missionary Amy Carmichael said, “Whatever need or trouble you are in, there is always something to help you in your Bible, if only you go on reading ’til you come to the word God specially has for you.” The Bible is knowable. It can be both taught and learned. It may seem puzzling to you now, but if you’ll prayerfully keep on reading, hearing, and studying it, you’ll increasingly understand its themes, discover its truths, claim its promises, echo its prayers—and share its message. Don’t get discouraged. Bible study is a lifelong habit. Keep reading! - Dr. David Jeremiah Morning and Evening
We can look now at the data of best selling books at a glance. The most life-changing is only the Word of God.
There's IS a key involved in reading it. Without that key only certain parts will make sense to the reader. For those who haven't come to Christ Jesus for salvation, only enough to show the reader how to believe and be saved will show itself. For those who do come to Christ for salvation, a whole different world opens up.
Believe it or not the Bible says that about itself.
1 Corinthians 2:14 NASB "But a natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned."
The things of the Spirit of God are the Word of God.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 NASB "All Scripture is inspired by God and beneficial for teaching, for rebuke, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man or woman of God may be fully capable, equipped for every good work."
In righteousness. You cannot begin to understand the righteousness of God without the Spirit of God to teach.
Jesus told His Disciples before He was betrayed that the Helper, the Holy Spirit, would come and teach them all things. Without the indwelling Holy Spirit you will not understand much of the mind of God.
Your life isn't about what you see or think that you know. Your soul and spirit need fed as much as your physical body does. Add to this truth, we are at a constant state of war with the spiritual forces of darkness. The world isn't going to tell us the truth. It will seduce and manipulate what truths are perceived. Only in the Word of God is the Words of God set in stone. The Spirit’s responsibility is to protect the Word of God.
The Word of God is more.
Hebrews 4:12 NASB "For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, even penetrating as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart."
It's able to show the exact issues in a person's life. It's able to dispel truth in ways no other book or person can. It needs no support or supplements.
Yesterday, and it's a rarity actually, I blocked someone on Facebook for their remarks about God and the Bible. A key passage that came to mind was Jesus saying to be careful of casting your pearls before swine. This is found in the Gospels. Don't argue with foolish people. This too is from the book of Proverbs.
Isaiah 55:8-9 NASB "“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth,So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts"
Romans 8:26-27 NASB "Now in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God."
The keys required must come out of a believing heart.
King David read his copy of what was at the time the Bible daily. Read of it in the book of Psalms. He knew what happens when you neglect to. It lead him to sin.
In yesterday's sermon it was used as an example. "To be so Heavenly minded was to be of no Earthly good". Well as the Pastor had said, this phrase is actually said wrong according to the Scriptures. We are indeed to set our minds on things above and not on the things of this world. We are to be so Heavenly minded that we will become the most Earthly good. You cannot do this transforming work without the Bible and prayer.
The Bible isn't a list of don'ts in order to spoil the fun of life. It's going to show you how to really live life as God intended.
Hell is for real.
Heaven is for real.
The consequences of sin are real and are spelled out in the Bible.
You won't find this anywhere else but the Bible. Those in Hell and those in Heaven can uncatagorically state the truth of God of the Bible.
The Bible states that those who reject the Son of God will find themselves in Hell. There's ample proof of the reality of Hell and you can find videos of people fighting as they slip into Hell.
The Bible states that those who received the free gift of Salvation in Christ Jesus find themselves in Heaven upon leaving this world. There's ample proof of this as well.
No other documents at any point in time points people to salvation in Christ Jesus.
Again, there's nobody denying the power of the Word of God in either Hell or in Heaven.
You, in your life, need to realize that "individual truth" will not change what the Bible says about sin, about life in Christ, about the penalty for sin.
Satan fell and has been trying to get even 1 part of the Bible to fail since the dawn of time.
You can have a transforming life with the Bible if you choose to come to Christ.
But you must choose it. You must also choose to live with the consequences of rejection of God’s Word too. Rejection means to be forever separated from God, paying for your own sins in torment in Hell. Everyone in Hell knows this to be true. Some rage at God because of this truth, others there are weeping eternally because of this truth. But their opinion of God’s truth will never change it.
I believe that the days of intense censorship on Facebook are coming. That those who speak the truth of God to the world will be silenced there. My blog remains outside of it and is accessible. Www.ascribeonthewall.com
God’s working in these last days and people need to know that the truths of God’s Word cannot and will not be silenced.
You need to decide whether to believe the god of this world or to believe the God of this Universe. To live for Jesus whom died for your sins, according to the Scriptures, who arose 3 days later, according to the Scriptures, and now sits at the right hand of God the Father, according to the Scriptures.
Heaven, Hell, the Bible, Prayer. You cannot avoid these in your life if you truly want to live and not waste life.
