But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things. JOHN 14:26
A graduate engineer worked in his field for a number of years and then served in a ministry vocation for nearly a decade. Returning to his previous career as an electrical engineer with a leading electronics company, he found himself woefully behind the technical curve. Because of his absence, he felt like he was starting over as an engineer. It would have been nice for him to have a tutor accompany him throughout his absence from the engineering arena, teaching him and keeping him up-to-date. Nice, but impractical. Having such a tutor is not impractical for the Christian. God has given us a full-time teacher to live with us twenty-four hours a day, keeping us up-to-date on “the things which God has prepared for those who love Him” (1 Corinthians 2:9). That teacher is, of course, the Holy Spirit, sent by God to open the spiritual eyes and ears of every believer, to educate us about the kingdom of God, and to give us the mind of Christ. No believer should ever lack the wisdom and knowledge of God. The Teacher is always ready. The question is whether we have taken our seat and opened our Book. Dr. David Jeremiah Morning and Evening
We aren't to consume our time in worldly things. Have been really realizing of late just how much of my life has been taken up by wasted time, wasted knowledge and wasted efforts.
I have been one to learn learn learn. To figure things out. To look for solutions to problems. But honestly that's not what I know God's called me to do. I was called to be an obedient Child of God.
I look at my possessions as we prepare to move. Why did I pursue this? Why did I buy that? Why am I keeping this? What do I see God doing with me in my soon to be new hometown?
My dreams and desires should always take a back seat to God's plan for me.
Do you listen to the Spirit when God's trying to redirect you? To teach you?
Are you willing to deny self, to take up your own cross, to follow Jesus in the way He said?
Are you going to listen or will you make excuses? Look at those who, when it was mentioned to, gave excuses rather than let go of this world to Jesus Himself.
Look at Hebrews Chapter 2 "For this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it. For if the word spoken through angels proved unalterable, and every violation and act of disobedience received a just punishment, how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? After it was at first spoken through the Lord, it was confirmed to us by those who heard, God also testifying with them, both by signs and wonders, and by various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit according to His own will."
Are you neglecting your salvation?
Are you motivated by obedience or by selfishness?
What do you look to when you get up in the morning? Do you fill your mind with sports statistics, the news, etc. but neglect God's Word to be what your mind and heart were meant for?
The Spirit is to be your Teacher, but are you skipping class?
You must decide because YOU will give an account for your life.
You will be explaining or at least trying to.
I am leaning towards letting go of much more of my past possessions. I know that where we are headed in life is more teaching and instruction on sanctification.
Being 'good' and on the surface 'compliant' to God's Word isn't good enough. Countless trillions of people in Hell thought they were and look at where they are. A changed heart that belongs to Christ Jesus enters into His Heaven.
You and I decide where we spend eternity.
You and I decide the potency and severity of the lessons that the Spirit must use to make us more like Jesus. He says we are HIS workmanship.
If you aren't living for the One who saved you, YOU need to ask yourself why.
People in any given second are in search for answers, thus the reason for the popularity of Google.
People in any given second fall into Hell or enter the gates of Heaven.
You cannot live a life loving things in the world and neglect your true life in Christ and God not have a problem with it.
Look at your possessions.
Look at what you love.
Look at what you wear, what you look like to this dying world.
Look at what takes up your time.
Look at what you pour your thoughts into.
Are you seeing evidence of the world or evidence of a walk with Christ Jesus?
