. . . faultless before the presence of His glory . . . Jude 24 NKJV
Contemplate that wondrous word: faultless. We are far from that reality now, but as our Lord never stops short of perfection in His work of love, we will reach it one day. The Savior who will keep His people to the end will also present them at last to himself, as “a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish” (Ephesians 5:27 NLT). All the jewels in the Savior’s crown are of the highest grade, without a single flaw. All the maids of honor who attend the Lamb’s wife are pure virgins without spot or stain. But how will Jesus make us faultless? He will wash us from our sins in His own blood until we are as pure and beautiful as His best angels, and we will be clothed in His righteousness, the righteousness that makes the saint who wears it positively faultless—perfect in the sight of God. We will be without blame, unable to be faulted even in His eyes. God’s law will not only bring no charge against us, it will be magnified in us. Even more, the work of the Holy Spirit within us will be absolutely complete. He will make us so perfectly holy that we will have no lingering tendency to sin. Judgment, memory, will—all of our powers and passions will be freed from their submission to evil. We will be holy even as God is holy, and we will live forever in His presence. Saints will not be out of place in heaven—their beauty will be as great as that of the place prepared for them. Oh, the rapture of that hour, when the everlasting doors will be lifted up and we, being made fit for the inheritance, will live with the saints in light. Sin gone, Satan shut out, temptation forever past, and ourselves faultless before the presence of His glory—this will indeed be heaven! Let us be joyful now as we rehearse the song of eternal praise that will soon burst forth in full chorus from the blood-washed multitude. Let us copy David’s exultation before the ark as a prelude to our ecstasy before God’s throne.
C.H. Spurgeon Morning and Evening
My Friend, read this phrase and understand it well. Apart from salvation in Christ Jesus alone, you ARE guilty. Without His free gift of Salvation, you have no defense in the Courts of Heaven. There's nothing you can offer that can or ever will be equivalent to everything Jesus had to go through to provide salvation to humanity.
We are born guilty. It's been a permanent part of every human being since the fall of Adam and Eve.
God Himself says there are none righteous, not one. We all fall short of the glory of God. We are all sinners in need of a Savior which is Christ the Lord. Only the transforming power of the Holy Spirit can remove, or as some put it, blot out the sin that we are born in.
It doesn't matter in the Court of God how good of a person you are.
Those who have come to Christ for salvation have their names written in a special book. The Lamb's book of Life. That book is the defining record of everyone who has come to Jesus Christ in faith to be saved.
Some worldly philosophies liken your deeds in this life as something to put on scales at the end of your life. In one singular sense this is true. But without salvation in Christ Jesus, those scales do not matter. Read the scene in the book of Revelation 20.
Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds. And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them; and they were judged, each one of them according to their deeds. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
Note that last verse. Even after all the good and all the bad is meted out, look at that AND.
You can be the most selfless person. A giver of givers. A rich philanthropist who always helps others in need. Can put your family and friends first in your life. Can be a model parent. Raising your children with good values. Can give of yourself to all.
And that and says that without salvation in Christ Jesus alone, you are still guilty of your sins.
Only the blood of Christ Jesus can wash away the sin. The word is justified. Justification.
Or as some phrase it as seeing Christ's justification as "just as if I never sinned".
Those saved, justified by Christ's blood, His sacrifice on the cross, when they stand before Christ He sees Himself. No sign nor trace of sin. Scripture says He casts their sin as far away as the east is from the west. Remembered no more.
My Dear Reader, it doesn't matter how you view the merits of your life in the Court of God.
The Judge makes rulings based on what He says is right.
There's no exceptions for good behavior. Good, clean, living will never get your name in that book. Billions and billions of people are already in Hell who thought what you are thinking about their lives too. Jesus says that Hell is a place of torment for those paying for their sins. They are constantly weeping and gnashing their teeth at their condition. They know without a doubt that there's no escape from the requirements of the penalty of sin that the Bible speaks to.
Everyone in Hell knows why they are there. They rejected salvation in Christ Jesus.
You still have the opportunity to be saved, to not join them. Without faith it is impossible to please God. Without faith you cannot arrive at salvation. Faith is believing in what you didn't do, in what Christ Jesus did. In your heart you believe, with your mouth you confess that Jesus is Lord. You live life for the One who saved you. You turn from your sins you had been doing. You can obtain forgiveness from your sins only after coming to Christ Jesus for salvation. Billions in Hell are in torment crying out in anguish for God to forgive them now.
But for them it's too late.
In a thousand years plus at least 7 or more years, these people will be in that court scene we read earlier. Given a new body. Yet their reprieve is momentary. After they are still pronounced guilty, they, in their new body, will be cast into the lake of fire.
Those who have been saved in Christ Jesus are never going through any of that. They are witnesses in God's Court to the Judgment of God.
Please do not delay any longer. No man knows the day nor the hour of Christ's return. But indeed Jesus told us what we would see in this world before He does return. When the last person to be saved is saved, that's it. We are living in those days He said would be upon this Earth.
You can be stubborn and in your denial of your guilt or you can call upon the name of Christ Jesus and be saved. The verdict of everyone in that Court Scene in Heaven we read in Revelation will end with "Is their name written in the Lamb's book of Life?" An Angel will search, and will proclaim "No." Then, one by one, the guilty will be cast into judgment.
Without salvation in Christ Jesus, you ARE guilty. You have NO defense. Faith in anyone or anything else will NOT save you. The ONLY one who writes in the Lamb's book of Life is the Holy Spirit and that occurs when salvation is received through faith in the Son of God who saves.
