What Defines You!
One who loves wine and oil will not become rich. Proverbs 21:17
In this 3rd installment today, take a good look at what excites you. Nothing in that verse is a suggestion. What you love defines you.
Later in Scripture it says that the love of money is the root of all sorts of evil.
People spend billions seeking temporary happiness. People always have a let down after they get what they were looking for happiness in. That trip to an amusement park, that cruise. That mini-vacation for the weekend.
Truth about riches and money is found in this verse. The poor it refers to isn't money but rather how it makes you feel. Read about all those who seek instant riches and get them and a ruined life because God wasn't a part of their lives. The stress of the inevitable letdown will get you. Lives get ruined quickly because of spending time, energy and money pursuing things in the world that have no benefit in Christ.
Even with all His unparalleled wisdom from God, King Solomon was rich beyond anyone and still found time to sin. He sinned in having multiple wives. Sinned in eventually not going to the Lord for wisdom in doing things. His life was shown in his legacy of his son next on the throne that had a significant impact on splitting up the nation of Israel. Civil War.
You too will be deceived by seeking after love in all the wrong places.
Hobbies and sports can lead you to love the things of this world. Look at what ensnare you.
You won't need to look far. Ask Jesus what He sees you loving more than Him.
