“No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you.” John 15:15
You do not choose to be a friend of God. That is by invitation only.
The invitation comes to those who open their hearts to Him. When we receive Him, we are granted a great many things.
Our name written down in the Lamb's book of Life. We are adopted. Never again separated from God. The Adoption is unbreakable. We will be given a Helper. The Holy Spirit. He will teach us all things. As Blackaby had also written, in all the Old Testament only two were referred to as friends of God. Abraham and Moses. In the New Testament it changes completely. Jesus refers to the Disciples as His friends. Those who would come after them would be His friends. We have the love of God poured into our hearts. We are granted grace and mercy. We have forgiveness of sins. New white robes await us. In this life we are given Spiritual armor. We are granted to bring our petitions and prayers directly to Jesus. Not through anyone else. We get to experience joy that's unexplainable. We get so much by coming to Christ. We are being made into those who are Christ like.
His workmanship.
Those who have not opened the door to their hearts miss all of that.
We, in and of ourselves, don't have the ability to deal with sin. We can't do a thing about making ourselves clean in God's eyes.
For those who have let Jesus in, it's not just your heart that He heals. Every compartment in your soul. Every room that you have a lock on, He will open.
Your life isn't your own anymore, and for you to be useful to Him, He needs to help you by healing you.
Sometimes it hurts, but dear reader it's only temporary. Many times in our lives we go through physical discomfort at the hands of a Doctor and it soon passes.
Jesus is the Great Physician. The ultimate Doctor. There's never any guessing about how to treat you. Do I need treatment? Oh my friend we all do. Before we came to Jesus to be saved we were in darkness and couldn't even see our wounds. He knew exactly how to heal everyone whom ever came to Him while He was here on the Earth. He touched the soul, not just the body of every single person.
You are invited. You have the doorknob to the door of your heart. He does not.
He knocks. Will you open it?
