This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.
1 John 5:14-15
This is the confidence. Think about those words. Not 'This is our hope'. Not 'This is what we would like'. Confidence. Assuredness.
Which we have before Him. Where are we? Always and forever there's one place for believers. In prayer we are just more aware of it.
If we ask anything according to His will.
Thinking beyond ourselves. What we pray for must fit what Jesus is doing on a global scale. The precise plans that are only to do with saving people. Guiding them to the truth that leads to Salvation in Christ Jesus. Yes the aspects of material things do fit into those plans. But remember once we are saved, it's not about us. It's about finding that next person Jesus is trying to save. Deny ourselves, take up our cross daily. How are you doing with that?
Could we be 'blessed' with a swollen bank account? Sure. Would it be spent helping others or on ourselves?
In all truthfulness, I would hope that I wouldn't be gifted with millions. I know me. I wouldn't trust me with it. My Spiritual side would certainly be warring with my Physical self over how to use it.
What is usually the first to go is a dependency on God.
Praying for what pleases Jesus always pleases Jesus.
What most don't grasp is that prayer is answered in many ways. Believe it or not even death is an answer to prayer. It isn't the first choice of us but in God's eyes it's an answer to prayer. We are selfish in wanting those we see suffering to stay with us. Ever think that maybe God says their time is up?
But still go back to the verse. When we align ourselves to His Will. Answers come. Maybe instantly or delayed but they come. The safest place to be in any storm of life is the doorway of Jesus. He is the Good Shepherd. He promised to care for His Sheep. His sheep know His voice. Do you? Seems like an odd question, but seriously, do you?
Do you spend time in the Bible?
Do you spend time in prayer? Not droning out a grocery list, but really talking to Jesus.
Do you feed your mind with Psalms, hymns and Spiritual songs?
Do you find yourself praying throughout the day because what you experience is so important or impressive that you got to talk to Jesus about it?
Do you only give God an hour on Sunday and do your own thing the rest of the week?
Makes you think doesn't it?
Jesus said to come as a child. Which tells me we don't need a PHD to understand Spiritual matters. You don't need a degree or doctorate. Ask, seek, knock. So easy a child can do it.
Are you asking?
Are you seeking?
Are you knocking?
Let your light shine before men.
Is it? Or are you keeping it under a basket?
Pray without ceasing. Why should fellowship with God ever end because of an Amen getting said.
Ask Jesus for what He wants of you.
He will gladly tell you.
Seek Jesus and you will find Him.
Knock and He will open up to you.
"Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you."
Philippians 4:8-9
